Paradise Valley Excursions

Palm shade, rock pools, mountain air.

Inland from Agadir, the road climbs into the Atlas foothills toward Imouzzer Ida Outanane. Folded into the gorge is Paradise Valley — palm groves, sculpted rock and clear pools. It lies about an hour's drive from the city, yet after the beach it feels like another world.

Highlights

01Rock pools

Clear, green-blue pools between smooth boulders — swimming is possible when the water is high.

02Palm-lined gorge

Shade, birdsong and walls of rock that glow in the afternoon light.

03Mountain road

A scenic drive through the foothills of the High Atlas.

04Honey country

The wider Imouzzer area is known for its mountain honey.

What to expect

A scenic drive, then a walk over rocks and gravel to the pools — around 30 minutes when water levels are low, on uneven ground. Depending on rainfall, the path may involve wading. Take your time and find a pool to yourself.

Good to know

  • The pools depend on rainfall — after dry spells the water can be low. Ask before you go.
  • Wear shoes with grip; bring swimwear, a towel and drinking water.
  • Never jump into pools without checking the depth on the day.
  • Some sections are rough underfoot — tell us about any mobility concerns.

Where it happens

Paradise Valley lies roughly 35 km north-east of Agadir by road, on the route toward Imouzzer Ida Outanane in the western High Atlas foothills.

Quick questions

Can we swim in Paradise Valley?

When there is enough water, yes. Levels change with rainfall, so ask about current conditions before you go.

Is the walk difficult?

It is not long, but the ground is uneven and rocky. Good shoes matter more than fitness.
