Camel Riding Experiences

Slow steps, long shadows.

Some scenes are meant to be slow. A camel ride around Agadir is exactly that — a gentle, swaying walk over sand and coastline, best timed for the softer light of late afternoon. Morocco's camels are dromedaries, the one-humped kind, and seeing the coast from up there is a memory that stays.

Highlights

01Sunset timing

Ask about late-afternoon rides, when the sun drops toward the Atlantic.

02No experience needed

It is a walk, not a race — handlers lead the camels throughout.

03Sand and sea

Rides take place on beaches and sandy ground outside the city.

04Made for photos

Low sun, long shadows and silhouettes — the most photogenic hour of the day.

What to expect

You climb on while the camel kneels; it rises back legs first, so lean back and hold on. Handlers lead the animals at walking pace. Afterwards there is time for photographs before the light fades.

Good to know

  • Long trousers make the saddle more comfortable.
  • Bring a scarf and sunglasses for wind and sand.
  • Tell us about any mobility concerns before you go.
  • Look for well-kept animals with shade and water — tell us if anything worries you.

Where it happens

Camel rides around Agadir take place on beaches and sandy areas outside the city centre. The photo above was taken on the beach at Taghazout, north of Agadir.

Quick questions

Is it suitable for children?

Many families ride together. Tell us the children's ages when you email so we can advise.

Can we combine it with quad biking?

Often, yes — both take place in similar landscapes outside town. Ask about pairing them.
